Do y'all run the software from the USB, or is the installer on the thumb drive?

If the installer is on the thumb bulldoze, y'all should be able to access it equally an external drive on the host and copy over the installer. If the software runs from the USB, you may again exist able to admission information technology from the host, but I tin't guarantee it would actually run in the VM.

First download Windows XP style from Microsoft. Y'all'll need to go through the Windows validation wizard to confirm y'all're running a licensed copy of the advisable version of Windows 7. Y'all'll take the choice of downloading and installing Windows Virtual PC software, simply y'all don't need it if you lot'll be using VMware.

Adjacent, install the downloaded Windows XP Way executable. The installation wizard will give you a chance to specify where the files installed, placing them in "C: Program Files Windows XP Mode" by default. This folder will contain, among other files, the 1GB+ file "Windows XP Mode base of operations.vhd" representing the hard bulldoze of the Windows XP virtual machine.

Then, launch VMware Workstation or Role player. Go to the File > Import Windows XP Fashion VM card.
